Hi!, Welcome to Day 1 of the Young and Raw 30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge 🙂

I am so excited you’ve joined us, and so is the rest of my team. Consider us all your virtual cheerleaders and biggest supporters over the next 30 days of this challenge and beyond!

Here’s how we’re going to run the challenge for you over the next 30 days…

Technically, the challenge doesn’t start until tomorrow, Tuesday October 1st. However, just in-case you do shift work or wake up too early to run the blender with sleepy roomies or family members,
we want to send you the “Smoothie of the Day” the night before. This way, you can make your smoothie before bed and store it in the fridge overnight if necessary.

Whenever possible, we always recommend you have your smoothie freshly made for the best taste and most nutrient density.

Ok, now – here’s your first smoothie of the day and make sure you join us in the 30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge Facebook Group where we’re rawking out with over 23,000 other challenge takers.
You’ll also find the full month of shopping lists, and daily smoothie recipes posted here. So don’t miss out, click here to join us. https://www.facebook.com/groups/30daygreensmoothiechallenge

Smoothie of the day: Day 1:

Arthritis Support Smoothie

½ cup fresh or frozen mango
½ celery rib
½ lime, peeled and juiced
4 basil leaves
1-inch piece turmeric root or 1 tsp turmeric powder
1 cup water

Health Benefits:

There are a couple of star ingredients in this smoothie that make it so amazing for cooling down inflammation such as arthritis.

First, turmeric (which contains the powerful active ingredient curcumin) possesses potent anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic properties. This has been confirmed by numerous studies including one published in the journal Phytotherapy Research, in Spring 2012.

Second, basil also has strong anti-inflammatory properties. British studies have revealed that it actively inhibits the same enzyme that anti-inflammatory drugs do, including Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen, but without any side effects. Pretty amazing, right?!
