Have You Heard What Quaker Is Doing?

Did you know Quaker’s parent company, PepsiCo, is spending the big bucks as in millions to keep you and your family from knowing what is in your food? Yes, I am telling the truth as told to me by Leah Segedie .
Quaker is one of the Big Food companies using their deep pockets to lobby against mandatory GMO labeling. Through the trade association, the Grocery Manufacturers Association, they are supporting a bill in Congress we call the DARK Act because it denies Americans the right to know whether our food has been genetically engineered. They should not have the right to make such a decision for us or our families. Shame on them.

Please sign the petition below to ask Quaker to join us and to support mandatory FDA labeling of GMOs! Yes, it is that simple.

GMO crops have led to huge increases in herbicide use, which contributes to an array of threats to the health of people and the environment. The World Health Organization recently labeled the main herbicide used on GMO crops as probably carcinogenic.

People all across the country are fed up with being kept in the dark intentionally which is why I am working with Just Label It to bring the Conceal or Reveal campaign to Quaker’s doorstep. Please chime in as well because we need your voice.

Have You Heard About The Social Hand Up?

Jillian chose What It’s Really Like to Be A Stay At Home Mom from Fun Money Mom. “I chose this post because I became a WAHM about 3 months ago, and had similar notions as Lisa. I thought I’d have all this extra time to do all these extra projects – and I’m realizing now, how far from the truth that is. Still, I wouldn’t change it for the world!”

Stacey also chose this post. “What an amazing post! So often, I think, my dear hubby thinks that all I do all day is sit and watch soap operas and eat bon bons! Of course it could not be farther from the truth, because my days are filled with home schooling, mowing the lawn, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and all of the other things that it takes to keep the household going. Thanks so much for sharing!”

Let’s Do Tour de Chef at Watershed On Peachtree

watershed_tourdechef_011

According to their website…

I am in! Are you? Okay so one of my many kitchens around Atlanta is doing good in my neighborhoods. I embrace them so much because they have that whole farm to table concept and they do an EXCELLENT job at it. It is truly their thing. So Watershed is kicking off the summer season with a cycling tour of Atlanta’s favorite farmers markets with Watershed on Peachtree’s Executive Chef, Zeb Stevenson.
The Watershed on Peachtree Tour de Chef will begin at Morningside Farmer’s Market then proceed to Freedom Farmers Market, Green Market in Piedmont Park, and finish with a grand finale back at Morningside. Chef Zeb will guide cyclists throughout the city, stopping at each market to gather fresh local ingredients which participants will later use at home to craft a delicious meal for four. A strong supporter of locality and seasonality, Chef Zeb will show participants how easy it can be to utilize your local markets and farmers to gather ingredients that allow you to create dishes with both flavor and community consciousness.

Tickets are $65 plus tax and include the price of ingredients to be purchased. A portion of the ticket sales will also benefit the Atlanta Bike Coalition—an alliance dedicated to transforming Atlanta’s streets and neighborhoods into livable communities where everyone can bike, walk, and thrive. Cycling experience recommended.
