NATIONAL ACTION NETWORK (NAN) YOUTH MOVE TO HOST 2ND ANNUAL YOUTH CONFERENCE IN ATLANTA, GA, FEATURING YOUNG LEADERS & ACTIVISTS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY — REV. AL SHARPTON TO DELIVER THE KEYNOTE ADDRESS THE FIRST DAY INSPIRING YOUNG PEOPLE TO ACTUALIZE THEIR DREAMS
Atlanta, GA (Thursday, June 13, 2013)—Mary Pat Hector, National Director of National Action Network Youth Move, along with hundreds of young people from across the country, will gather in Atlanta, GA June 28-29 at the South Cobb Recreation Center for Youth Move’s 2nd annual conference. The free conference will kick-off on June 28th with a keynote address by one of the nation’s most preeminent civil rights leaders, Rev. Al Sharpton, President of National Action Network and MSNBC host.
Youth Move’s National Conference will offer breakout sessions presented by local young entrepreneurs on how to start and run your own business as well as keynote presentations by highly successful young business owners. Hundreds of students will be given the opportunity to attend sessions led by business giants including, Leona Barr-Davenport, President and CEO of the Atlanta Business League (ABL), Atlanta’s oldest minority business development and advocacy organization, Thomas W. Dortch, Jr., Chairman Emeritus of 100 Black Men of America, Inc. and President and Chief Executive Officer of TWD, Inc., Debra Antney, founder and CEO of Atlanta-based management company “Mizay Entertainment” and Youth Entrepreneur’s Kenedi and Treasure Bishop.
Young entrepreneurs from across the nation will share their stories on starting and running their own businesses. Session topics range from social media marketing tips, to writing the perfect business plan. That’s not all! We will be entertained with a special guest appearance Georgia’s most talented youth, the cast of SUPERSTAR DREAMZ.
About National Action Network’s Youth Move:
Youth Move is comprised of youth ages 11-22 who are interested in making their voices heard through community service and youth advocacy. Youth group meetings include: trainings, discussions, personal growth and team building exercises, Youth Summits, recreational activities, snacks, and fun.
Youth Move Staff work hard to stay up to date on resources and programs available in communities across the nation.
Youth Move works hard to make youth voices heard on public policy issues and young people across the country advocate for youth issues like, social justice, education, and youth violence.
Youth Move works with various government agencies to provide beneficial feedback on their programs and services to work towards effecting positive changes that benefit youth.
